United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is building a Thriving Community by Uniting People, Ideas and Resources.
We believe in a community where every child receives a high-quality education from birth to career, every adult has the opportunity to thrive financially and, in the workplace, and every older person can retire and age with dignity and independence.
United Way of Tucson has been an institution for 100 years as we respond to our community’s needs, transforms lives and bring long-lasting systemic change to our community by focusing on the underlying issues. We fight for education, financial wellness, equality and healthy communities for every person in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Our role as the community convener enables us to serve more than 250,000 people each year by forming strategic partnerships, mobilizing the best resources and being the catalyst for needed, positive change.
Our three main focus areas include:
1. Education: Improve educational and life outcomes for children, youth and young adults by advancing equity and excellence in education.
2. Financial Wellness: Improve the equity of employment and financial wellness outcomes of adults and families for life-long well-being.
3. Provide equitable access through education and resources to improve the quality of living and dying for older people and their families.
United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona was formed in 1922 as a way for local business and nonprofit entities to work together to meet our community’s needs. In our nearly hundred-year history, we’ve continued to adapt and evolve to serve those most in need in our community and create sustainable solutions for a thriving community. Over the past 100 years, hundreds of thousands of people have been touched by United Way of Tucson. Such a milestone is not attained by accident. We are indebted to the community members who have invested time, money and resources. Our community depends on the active engagement of our business, government and nonprofit partners to support programs and initiatives that promote high quality education, financial wellness and healthy communities for everyone in Tucson and Southern Arizona. A vibrant, healthy community benefits us all.
